About Us

Hope, where you and your pet
are part of our family!

Our Mission

At Hope Animal Clinic, we are focused on you and your pet and how we can meet your needs. We see every client as important and every pet as special. We strive to offer professional services distinguished by excellence and compassion. We are no ordinary veterinary clinic; we truly seek to offer HOPE to every client for every need. Check us out here on our website and visit our hospital. We would love to meet you and your special pet.

Surprisingly, over the past two years, we have concluded through client comment and our own insight that our curbside and drive through services have aided us in providing services more smoothly. Some of the benefits of curbside and drive-through services:

  • We are able to serve you more quickly than when all clients were coming in the building.

  • The online waitlist enables us to start treatments more quickly because we have your file already pulled when you arrive.

  • We have found that most pets are calmer and more comfortable waiting in the car as opposed to waiting in our lobby.

  • Many clients prefer relaxing in their car while their pet is being treated.

Despite these advantages, some clients have requested to come into the clinic for a one-on-one visit with a doctor. For those clients, we are glad to be able to provide this service again. For those who enjoy relaxing in their car for the duration of their pet’s visit, we are glad to continue this service as well. Please continue reading for more details about these changes.

What Our Clients Think

Our History

The name “Hope Animal Clinic” comes from Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’” We believe that all people need hope. Hope Animal Clinic offers hope to clients and their pets through professional, compassionate care supported by the highest medical standards, the latest equipment, and the utmost in dedication.

Hope Animal Clinic opened on April 3, 2000, in an 1800 square foot Roosevelt-era house renovated as a medical facility. Behind the house stood a garage that was renovated as our first boarding facility. Through the years, Hope has grown to comprise a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art medical facility, a 9,000 square foot boarding facility, a 10’x 35’ pool used for pet rehabilitation and recreation, and a doggy daycare area. The original staff consisted of Dr. Fuller, his wife as the receptionist, one full-time technician, and one part-time technician. Today, Hope Animal Clinic employs over 80 full-time and part-time employees, including 6 full-time doctors.

Does your facility offer curbside?

Yes! Surprisingly, over the past two years, we have concluded through client comment and our own insight that our curbside and drive through services have aided us in providing services more smoothly and quickly than when all clients were coming in the building. Clients who choose curbside service, preferring to wait in their cars during their pet’s visit and not see a doctor in person, will continue to receive a phone call from a doctor to review their pet’s exam once complete and to answer questions.

Our steps to Curbside service

  1. A technician or doctor will call you after your pet’s examination or treatment to discuss the visit.
  2. After you talk to a technician or doctor, a receptionist will call to take payment by phone.
  3. Once the payment is processed, a staff member will bring your pet back out to you.
How does the online waitlist help me?

The online waitlist enables us to start treatments more quickly because we have your file already pulled when you arrive. Also, we have found that most pets are calmer and more comfortable waiting in the car as opposed to waiting in our lobby and most clients prefer relaxing in their car while their pet is being treated.

Can I still see my doctor for a one on one visit?

Yes, you can see a doctor. We simply ask you to wait in your car until we call you to come inside.  If you need assistance with your pet, please advise our staff when they call you.  However, for those who enjoy relaxing in their car for the duration of their pet’s visit, we are glad to continue our curbside service as well.   Either way, when visiting Hope sign in to our Waitlist or call 205-426-2828.

How do I access the waitlist?

Click here or call 205-426-2828. Follow the prompts to explain your concern or need.  Select whether you would like to see a doctor in a room or wait in your car during your pet’s visit. With either selection, you will get a text confirming you are on our waitlist. Respond “here” to your confirmation text when you arrive.  If you choose to wait in your car, a staff member will come to your vehicle to bring your pet inside.  If you choose to come inside, you will receive a call advising you your room is ready.

Other FAQ's

How do I get Prescription Refills?

Please visit our Pet Portal or call ahead at 205-426-2828 for prescription refills, monthly heartworm medication, flea & tick medication, and dog food to be picked up at the drive-through. You may also contact us to arrange shipment of items if needed.  Please give us 1 business day to fill your prescription.

How do I arrange to board my pet?

Please call ahead or complete our Boarding Request Form for a reservation. Please allow 3 business days to confirm your reservation. How do I have my pet groomed?

Grooming drop-offs and pick-ups can be handled through the drive-through. All grooming services are by appointment only.  Call the clinic for an appointment, 205-426-2828.

How do I register for Doggy daycare?

Regular doggy daycare clients can drop off at the drive-through or have the additional option of dropping off at the front circular drive as long as doggy daycare is the only service being requested that day. Fill out our Doggy Daycare Release Form if you are interested.

Celebrating 25 Year!!!

April 3rd marks 25 years since I first opened the doors of Hope Animal Clinic in a renovated house with 1 surgery table, 2 exam rooms, and a used x-ray machine given to me by a veterinary friend. The year was 2000. I had a confidence that I was where God wanted me to be; I had a young family and one technician who worked with me; and I had a solid commitment to provide excellent pet care at reasonable prices.   I had a hope for the future.

The future became more than my “hope” imagined. Through the years, God has brought exceptional veterinarians, managers, technicians, receptionists, kennel workers, and groomers. Today, we have a team of six incredible veterinarians and approximately 80 dedicated employees who make Hope Animal Clinic what it is all while working in a modern hospital with advanced technology.  I could not have imagined how Hope would grow.

I also could not have imagined the thousands of people that I and my staff would have the privilege of knowing and serving.  Some of you have become like family; many of you have become friends; all of you are appreciated. So let me say this—whether you’ve been with us since the “old house” or just joined our Hope family—thank you for trusting us with your pets. Your support has made this journey possible, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I am also grateful for our dedicated staff now and throughout the years.  Hope could not provide compassionate, excellent care without them.  Thank you, staff, for making Hope a trusted place for pet care through your skilled attention and dedication to every pet’s well being and every client’s needs.  You are the best!

Foremost, I thank God for His faithfulness and give Him glory. I am fully convinced that God has a plan for all of us—each person—and that my work through Hope Animal Clinic is God’s plan and calling for my life.  Preventing diseases through wellness programs, healing diseases through diagnosis and treatment, restoring function of essential organs and limbs through surgery, relieving suffering, and saving pets’ lives through medical treatment—vet medicine is a high calling.  But the greater calling is to share the gospel and to shine God’s light to those He brings through our doors.  I hope to practice many more years and to be faithful to my callings to the end.

I’d love to hear your favorite memories or see pictures of your pets who have been part of our journey, so please post these on our social media page.   Here’s to 25 years of care, compassion, and community—and many more years to come, Lord willing!

— Dr. David T. Fuller, III
